![]() It’s nice to see the guys take the time to unpack stigmas like what it means to be femme and queer, or even talk about what it is like to be Black in Trump’s America, and of course if you need something to eat while you’re binging away, give these flautas a try. If you need something to binge this weekend, One Day at a Time is worth the watch, and the new Queer Eye on Netflix is also pretty great. Blend cashew cream with sweetener and a little spice to jazz up your coffee or tea. Try our savory variation below, with dried or fresh herbs, over pasta or swirled into soup. Its mild taste and creamy texture can take on sweet or savory flavors. I was a bit skeptical about how the vegan crema would taste, but it actually turned out pretty delicious, there’s a whole lot of flavor in there and it tastes even better after it has chilled in the fridge for one or two hours. Cashew cream is a thick and durable nondairy stand-in for heavy cream. I didn’t have any portobellos hanging in the fridge, but those would also be a good substitute for jackfruit and would give the filling even more fajita vibes. When it comes to the filling, you can pretty much get away with stuffing them with just about anything. Use cup water, add some garbanzo beans or edamame and blend for a delicious hummus. Dip: Use cup water, add in some fresh herbs like dill and parsley, a pinch of lemon zest, and capers then blend for a delicious veggie or chip dip. It’s ideal for using in all sorts of vegan and dairy free recipes, including luscious desserts, hearty salad dressings and flavorful sauces. If the water from your faucet gets hot enough that can also be used. Then turn off the heat once it reaches a boil, then pour the hot water over the cashews or add the cashews to the hot water. To do this boil enough water to cover the cashews. Some people use flour tortillas for their flautas, but I personally like to use corn because I prefer its crunch. Use this cashew cream recipe as your base recipe, then modify it to accompany these various. Cashew cream is rich, super creamy, and incredibly easy to make. Soaking in hot water: soak for about 15-30 minutes (or as long as possible) in hot water. I remembered I had a couple of cans of jackfruit from Trader Joe’s sitting in my pantry from a post that never came to fruition, so I started to think about what I could MacGyver with them and with what I had around, and flautas started to sound really good. I was procrastinating over the weekend, trying to live my best life binging on the new season of “One Day at a Time”, until I convinced myself I needed to get up and be productive.
